This month's Winter in Dublin programme is packed with exciting events, including live gigs, comedy, theatre, festivals and family activities. Covering everything from history to music and sport, here are some spots to check out from this week... 4. Dublin Bowie Festival - 10th to 15th January The Dublin Bowie Festival returns this month to celebrate the iconic singer-songwriter and actor, through a series of fun events taking place across the city. The full line-up includes some live tribute performances at Opium, a Bowie silent disco at Whelan's, listening parties, photography exhibitions and some film screenings at the Lighthouse, including Labyrinth and The Hunger.

3. Doors into Docklands AR Discovery Trail - Launches 11th January  This month, Dublin Discovery Trails launches the first in a series of immersive Augmented Reality (AR) heritage trails, beginning with Doors into Docklands. Through the new Discovery Trails app, the Doors into Docklands trail takes visitors on an interactive and historic journey along Dublin's docklands using AR characters, discovering hidden history, interesting landmarks and fascinating heritage sites along the way. 2. Mnáwesome: A Celebration of Irish Women in Sport at Rascals Brewing Co - 18th January In the spirit of Nollaig na mBan, Rascals Brewery is holding a very special celebration of women's sports, to raise vital funds for Women's Aid. The event will see sporting legends chat through some historic and memorable moments in Irish sport and discuss what's to come for women's sports in the next twelve months, featuring former MMA champion fighter Aisling Daly, footballer Louise Quinn, Olympian Roisin Upton and basketballer Sarah Byrne.

1. Tradfest Temple Bar - 25th-29th January

Tradfest, Dublin's annual celebration of traditional Irish music, returns to Temple Bar this month with a quality line-up of new and established trad performers. Over 50 live music concerts will take place in various locations including free ticked events at some of Temple Bar's best pubs and a limited number of larger gigs taking place in key Dublin landmarks including St Patrick's Cathedral, the National Museum of Ireland and Malahide Castle.
