Tourists have been warned against posing at the the edge of the Seven Sisters cliffs in Sussex, UK, after a series of photos published prompted the police to get involved.
The popular tourist spot sees daredevils edge out as far as they can on the cliff to capture selfies over the 200ft drop.
Local witness Wayne Spring told The Metro:
‘You’re not surviving that drop – the jagged rocks at the bottom make sure of that. ‘I’ve seen that cliff crumble before, and I’ve seen way too many people stood at the edge.'
‘They do it to take selfies and pictures – but they are gambling with their lives.
‘It was good to see the officers come and tell off those tourists though. Hopefully they’ll learn.’
Just last year, Korean student Hyewon Kim died after she slipped while jumping into the air for a photo.
A safety campaign has been promoted by the HM Coastguard, The National Trust, the South Downs National Park and Sussex Wildlife Trust along with East Sussex, Seaford, Wealden, Eastbourne and Lewes councils, with locals urged not to try to rescue risktakers, but to call 999 immediately.
