This Galway Restaurant Is Hosting A ‘First Dates’ Night On Valentine’s Weekend

We all love First Dates, the guilty viewing pleasure that involves watching potential couples flirt over their starters and try not to stare into the camera hidden in a flower vase on their table.

What started as a UK show soon made its way over to Ireland, with hilarious results.

And while most of us may be slightly too shy to actually appear on television during a blind date, there's still a part of us that would love the thrill.

Lucky for locals in Galway then, as Moycullen restaurant White Gables is hosting its very own 'First Dates' weekend from the 10th to 12th of February, just in time for a Valentine's kiss.

Speaking to the Daily Edge, the restaurant's resident matchmaker Sandra Heany said “we all love the show, so wanted to see if we could help bring people together this year".

“White Gables is a place that is synonymous with first dates in Galway, but we wanted to bring an element of fun and of course romance with the blind dating.We are hoping people take a chance and go for it on this - really, there is nothing to lose."

Willing participants will be asked to fill out a questionnaire and will then be matched up depending on their answers. Sure, what could possibly go wrong?

The best part, of course, is that it won't be filmed. So if you do make a major flirting-faux-pas, you'll have a better chance of living it down.
